CHICAGO—In a global survey of top art and design colleges, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) was ranked No. 7 out of 220 US and international colleges by QS World University Rankings. Moving up from the School’s previous No. 9 ranking, the new ranking puts SAIC ahead of some of the most prestigious art and design colleges from the US and around the world.
“For over 150 years, SAIC has been a home for society’s most innovative problem solvers: artists and designers,” noted SAIC President Elissa Tenny. “It’s been our faculty’s ingenuity and students’ resourcefulness that have allowed SAIC to persist as a global community, making, learning, and creating, throughout the worldwide pandemic.”
The QS World University Rankings assesses the best international colleges and universities based on academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact. The QS World University Rankings is one of the leading sources of comparative data for university performance and is commonly used by prospective students and parents when making their higher education decisions.
The QS World University Rankings are part of the organization’s portfolio, which this year ranked 1,453 institutions across 51 subjects in five subject areas. SAIC was included in the organization’s assessment of Top Art and Design Schools in 2021.
