Office of Student Affairs

Overview

The Office of Student Affairs at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) strives to provide students with a transformative experience regarding their education and experiences outside of the classroom. The co-curricular experience that we provide our students is intended to compliment and enrich what students are learning in the classrooms, studios, and shops.

The most important value we hold in Student Affairs is to support our students’ safety, health, and wellness. We also strongly value supporting the growth and development of SAIC students through their engagement with our offices, and one aspect of the SAIC experience that’s truly extraordinary is the ability of our students to be immersed in the rich world of art and design in Chicago. Having the artistically and culturally rich city of Chicago as a playground, laboratory, and a place to explore truly helps SAIC to stand out as one of the very best art and design schools in the US. Our students have countless opportunities to make the most of their life outside of the classroom both on and off campus, with considerable, thoughtful, and supportive guidance from Student Affairs.

Student Success

The Student Success department’s mission is to foster a community of support and inclusion for students to succeed in their educational endeavors, and to help make art and design education equitable and accessible to vulnerable populations. We facilitate this mission through efforts such as the First-Generation Fellows Program, Chicago Fellows Program, and retention and six-year completion monitoring and support.
