Alum Claire Sullivan Featured in Harper’s Bazaar

School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) alum Claire Sullivan (BFA 2016) is featured in Harper’s Bazaar in a piece on fashion industry origin stories, sharing the personal history that shaped her into the New York-based custom couturier she is today.

Sullivan graduated from SAIC’s Fashion Design program in 2016, the same year she and her New York-based collective Vaquera were named finalists for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)/Vogue Fashion Fund.

After graduating from SAIC, Sullivan moved to New York City, where she went on to build her custom couture label, Miss Claire Sullivan, dressing high-profile clients for events including Met Gala after-parties and red-carpet appearances. The brand is known for its deeply personal, one-of-a-kind pieces tailored to each client’s individual personality.

The Harper’s Bazaar feature is the latest in a string of recognition for Sullivan, whose work has grown steadily through word-of-mouth and a strong social media presence. She participated in a Paris trunk show in 2025 and secured agency representation through DLX NYC in 2024.
