Fuel your young artist’s curiosity at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Designed for ages 10–13, SAIC's middle school programs offer an immersive dive into art and design—spanning painting, animation, sculpture, fashion, and more. We help students master core techniques while empowering them to become confident creative thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers.
Fall & Spring Weekend Classes
Join us during the school year for immersive weekend learning. Our fall and spring courses give students ages 10–13 space to explore different mediums, collaborate with peers, and express their unique artistic voice.
Summer Camps
Our two-week on-campus summer courses are designed to allow students to focus on their interests, learn new skills, and bring their ideas to life. We offer course subjects and resources not available to young creators anywhere else in the world.
Unique Courses and World-Class Resources
SAIC gives young creators exclusive access to world-class resources and distinct disciplines. Whether mastering comic illustration, constructing garments, or exploring animation, students will be able to follow their artistic passions and build real-world skills.
Our Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago
Our museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, is an integral part of students’ experiences, and visits to the museum are a part of each course. Be prepared to have your child teach you about their favorite pieces in our collection.
Not Your Average Art Class
We believe being active fuels imagination, and we guarantee that students will not just be sitting in class or in front of their computer. Classes venture into the real world to gain inspiration for their projects.
