Daniel Whiteneck (MArch 2011)

Two SAIC alums designed an iPad game that teaches children how to code—and landed jobs at a California app company for their efforts.

Sky Cubacub (BFA 2015) is creating a space for garments for the full spectrum of gender identities and abilities with their clothing line, Rebirth Garments.

Idris Goodwin (MFA 2004) is a playwright, break beat poet, essayist, and Professor of performance writing and hip-hop aesthetics at Colorado College. He recently returned to SAIC for a performance in response to Claudia Rankine’s Citizen: An American Lyric, a work he refers to as “a groundbreaking text in an important tradition of African American art.”

Patsy Diaz (MA 2015) creates supportive enviroments for art making that foster emotional development through her work with Chicago’s park district. 

 

SAIC's new President, Elissa Tenny, is an advocate for what she calls the “graduate citizen” and thinks SAIC is ideally positioned to develop artists, designers, and scholars who can make a positive impact on the world.

An endowed professorship is more than just an impressive title. It is an acknowledgement of intellectual leadership and an endorsement for future impact. SAIC’s endowed professors are inspirational forces whose influence radiates outward—through the classroom and studio and across the city and world.

Curator Allison Glenn (Dual MA 2012) invited SAIC faculty and alumni, along with other artists, to participate in the large-scale immersive exhibition In the beginning, sometimes I left messages in the street. From June 6 to July 10 artwork appeared on 10 billboards embedded across a 19-mile stretch of the city landscape.
