SAIC Community Members Highlight LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Dialogue on Podcast
Members of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) community are featured in an episode of Unboxing Queer History focused on the LGBTQ+ Intergenerational Dialogue Project (IDP). IDP is a Chicago-based initiative founded in 2019 that brings queer elders and “youngers” together to share stories, conversations, meals, and art to build relationships across generations. This episode investigates the wide gaps between LGBTQ+ generations, why connection between young and old queers is important, and some of the tensions and joys that those relationships bring.
The conversation took place between SAIC faculty and students, including Professor Karen Morris, cultural anthropologist and co-founder of IDP whose work focuses on care, kinship, aging, and activism; Associate Professor Adam J. Greteman, whose teaching and research address sexuality, pedagogy, and cultural politics; Bailey Taylor, a second-year Art Education student and arts organizer with seven years of experience expanding access to youth arts programs through social justice-driven teaching; and alum Molly Fulop (MA 2023), an arts-based curriculum developer whose practice explores intergenerational LGBTQ+ art-making in community and museum settings while challenging anti-LGBTQ+ censorship.
