Corporate, Foundation, Government, and Civic Relations
The Corporate, Foundation, Government, and Civic Relations team at SAIC works with external stakeholders to support the artists and designers of tomorrow. We work to develop civic partnerships and funding opportunities that support our Chicago community, including scholarships, internships, and public programs.
Invest in Scholarships
With 89 percent of SAIC undergraduates qualifying for financial aid, SAIC is committed to helping students find ways to pay for college. Each year, the School awards nearly $50 million in scholarships through programs like the Bank of America and Massey Scholarships, which help alleviate the cost of college for low-income Chicago students.
Invest in the Leaders of Tomorrow
The School’s commitment to our Chicago community includes programs like the Chicago Makers Fund, which gives students stipends for internships in Chicago. By facilitating internship stipends, SAIC can ensure that all students—regardless of economic status—are able to pursue these essential opportunities and build a professional network. Investments like these build the pool of innovative thinkers that the Chicago business community most wants to retain in our city.
Invest in Youth Programs
The College Arts Access Program, a three-year college bridge program, offers rigorous art and design courses, college advising, supplemental academic support, and mentorship to talented high school students from under-resourced communities. Since 2014, the College Arts Access Program has served 97 Chicago Public Schools students and retains a 100 percent college admissions rate.
Invest in Civic Initiatives
Serving the North Lawndale community, the Homan Square Arts Initiative offers multigenerational art classes, cultural planning, and design projects to build community and increase artistic literacy. Since Homan Square Arts Initiative programming began in spring 2016, SAIC has facilitated 1,680 hours of arts education programs for 1,200 participants of all ages.
