Next Steps for Enrolled Students

Your ARTIC account is the key to accessing Canvas and other student resources. You will also use your ARTIC account username and password to login to your SAIC.edu email address. Your instructor will communicate with you through Canvas and your SAIC.edu email address. Make sure to regularly check your SAIC.edu email address during the course.

To activate your ARTIC account, you will need to:

  • Locate your SAIC ID number in the email “APSI at SAIC - Next Steps.” If you have an SAIC student ID card (ARTICard) you will also find it there.
  • Go to password.artic.edu
  • Select Activate Account
  • On the Verification screen, enter the words displayed and select Verify
  • Enter your 7-digit SAIC ID number
  • Enter your Last Name
  • Enter your Birthdate using this exact date format: DD-MMM (two-digit day, dash, and all caps three-digit month, for example: 22-FEB)
  • Select Activate

Your login is automatically assigned but you will create your own password. Passwords must be alphanumeric and at least six characters. Be sure to record your account information for future reference. 

Read all instructions. You must complete the entire process or your account will not be activated.

Visit gmail.artic.edu, using your ARTIC account username and password to login. Canvas notifications and communication from your instructor will be sent to this address.

Canvas is SAIC’s online learning platform and will be the central resource for all of your course materials and communication with instructors and peers. Visit Canvas or download the app for Android or Apple and login using your SAIC username and password.

Bookmark canvas.saic.edu. You will be able to use your ARTIC account username and login to access your Canvas courses.

If you are not familiar with Canvas, please complete the virtual Canvas Student Orientation - you will need to login with your ARTIC account credentials.

The synchronous portions of this summer’s APSI sessions will be held using Zoom video conferencing software.

APSI workshop live sessions are scheduled in Central Daylight Time. Make sure to plan your schedule accordingly.

Use World Time Buddy to compare Central Daylight Time with your current timezone.

Certificates of completion will be mailed to participants within eight weeks upon successful completion of the APSI workshop.

APSI participants will earn one graduate credit for completion of the workshop. 30 CPDU credits are available. Request your official transcript online.

For most districts, a transcript will be sufficient to demonstrate professional development units. If your district requires other specific documentation, please have them contact us directly at saic-teacherprograms@saic.edu
