Bio
Winnie Weiyun Szu (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist born in Taipei, Taiwan, and based in Chicago. She received a BFA in Fine Art from Taipei National University of the Arts (2023) and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2026). Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at EXPO Chicago, Epiphany Center for the Arts, Keelung Museum of Art, and Research House for Asian Art, and has been featured in New American Paintings.

Personal Statement
Szu makes paintings about weather, not specific places, but the feeling of being inside conditions. Light changing, something passing through. Working with gauze, distemper, ink, and calligraphic mark, she builds surface through accumulation and cadence, following the work as it shifts. Her practice also moves through printmaking, video installation, and writing. The paintings sometimes read as landscape but are closer to atmosphere than location, open, unresolved, alive in their ambiguity.
