CHICAGO—On August 5, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is launching The Future of Our Plans, an online showcase of work from our graduate class of 2020. This website will feature current projects, thesis work, and creative reflections on our current moment from more than 150 artists, designers, and scholars.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago Joins Legal Opposition to ICE Policy Modifications for International Students

SAIC joins Illinois Attorney General in a multi-state legal opposition and will join an amicus brief in support of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s suit challenging the policy CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) joined Northwestern University, University of Chicago, Yale University, and others in supporting legal challenges to policy modifications announced by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago to Honor Citizen Artists Mel Chin, AFRICOBRA, and Katherine Sherwood at Its 2020 Commencement Ceremony

CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a global leader in art and design education, will welcome renowned multidisciplinary artist Mel Chin to deliver the School’s Commencement address on Saturday, May 16, as part of the School’s virtual ceremony. Chin will receive an honorary doctorate from the School, along with esteemed honorees Jae Jarrell (SAIC 1959–61), Wadsworth Jarrell (DIPLOMA 1958), and Gerald Williams (SAIC 1966–67), all alums and founders of the influential, Chicago-based artist collective AFRICOBRA, and artist and disability advocate Katherine Sherwood.
