For twelve years, students in Designed Objects courses have shown their work at international design fairs including the Salone del Mobile in Milan and New York Design Week. Since 2012, the work has been shown under the name "whatnot."
Positioned as a commercial brand, whatnot has been a progressive educational platform focused on creative inquiry matched to iteration, systems of production, and the nuances of the marketplace. The year long class gives students the space and time to find their voices as independent designers and the resources to produce fully realized, original products that are launched ot the public.
This exhibition gathers an eclectic mix of whatnots from the past seven years. See the full archive here. Learn about this year's award-winning whatnot collection "was/is" here.
