Alum Tizziana Baldenebro (MArch 2019) will co-curate the American Pavilion at the upcoming Venice Architecture Biennale. Cleveland arts nonprofit SPACES–where Baldenebro works as executive director–has been chosen as the pavilion’s commissioner. Baldenebro collaborated on the proposal with Lauren Leving, who is a curator at Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland. The exhibition, Everlasting Plastics, will explore the relationship between plastic, art, architecture, and the environment. While the pavilion is still in the planning stages, work has already been commissioned from multiple US-based artists, including alum Norman Teague (MFA 2016).

Baldenebro told Architectural Record that the exhibition would explore plastic “both literally and as a cultural metaphor.”
