SAIC Community Members Carrie Schneider and Nick Cave Selected for 2026 Venice Biennale
Two members of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) community, alum Carrie Schneider (MFA 2007) and Bill and Stephanie Sick Professor of Fashion, Body and Garment Nick Cave are among the 111 artists selected for the 2026 edition of the Venice Biennale, widely considered the world’s most important international art exhibition. Opening May 9 and running through November 22 in Venice, Italy, the 61st Biennale will present In Minor Keys, an exhibition conceived by the late curator Koyo Kouoh. Schneider and Cave join a global roster of artists whose work reflects quiet, reflective modes of expression during a moment of social and political tension. Their inclusion highlights the continued international impact of SAIC artists and educators.
