SAIC Alums Named Newcity 2023 Breakout Artists

This year, Newcity’s 2023 Breakout Artists list includes six School of the Art Institute of Chicago alums. The Chicago publication named Ále Campos (MFA 2022), Janelle Ayana Miller (BFA 2017), Ruby Que (MFA 2022), Moises Salazar (BFA 2021), Farah Salem (MA 2019), and Kushala Vora (MFA 2018) as artists to watch out for. The list, which recognizes the "the next generation of image makers," will appear both online and in print. This is the 20th year Newcity has released a Breakout Artists edition.

“The world tends to celebrate its prominent artists so vigorously that it's easy to overlook the fact that thousands of artists do their work in relative anonymity …” writes editor Brian Hieggelke. “By shining a light on a handful of artists we think most promising today, perhaps we can make a small difference at a time when it's needed most."
