Nichols Tower Artist-in-Residence Program Receives Prestigious Award
The School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s (SAIC) Nichols Tower Artist-in-Residence program has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Insight Into Academia Civic Engagement and Community Service Award. The artist-in-residence program is part of SAIC at Homan Square, a community of residents and artists in the historic North Lawndale Chicago neighborhood who work together on public programs, degree courses for SAIC students, and the Artist-in-Residence Program, where three residents a year receive studio space in Nichols Tower and a platform for public engagement.
This recognition highlights colleges and universities and their programs that demonstrate a strong, sustained commitment to serving their communities and advancing the public good. The April issue of Insight Into Academia magazine will feature a dedicated award section about this year’s winners.
