March 2024: Faculty and Staff Accomplishments

Director of Communications Rowan Beaird’s first novel, The Divorcées, will be published March 19 by Flatiron. Named a most anticipated book by Elle, Real Simple, Entertainment Weekly, Good Housekeeping, and more, Beaird will be launching The Divorcées at several events in Chicago and beyond.

Lecturer Garrett Laroy Johnson is the lead organizer at the Center for Concrete and Abstract Machines, which just received the Artist Run Chicago and Art Design Chicago awards from Hyde Park Arts Center and the Terra Foundation. The award will support 2024 programming, including a special event entitled “Future Rhythm Machines” on Chicago House music at Watershed: Art and Ecology in May. The event will feature a DIY synth workshop, panels, discussions, and performances.

Professor Anke Loh was announced as the International Museum of Surgical Science’s Spring 2024 Artist in Residence. Loh's residency will culminate in a capstone exhibition scheduled to open in late 2024.

Associate Prof. Adj, Lorraine Peltz’s exhibition All I Know About Love and Gardens is on view at Chicago’s Zolla/Lieberman Gallery. This recent series of paintings explores fluidity of language—pictorial and verbal.
