Every month, we celebrate the accomplishments of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's staff and faculty. 

Assistant Professor, Adj. Giovanni Aloi gave a talk titled “Photographing Italy: Identity, History, and the Contemporary Landscape” and published an article titled “The Ethics of Material Visibility” in Esse Magazine.

Assistant Professor Sampada Aranke published the article “Blackouts and Other Visual Escapes” in Art Journal and contributed to “A Questionnaire on Decolonization” in OCTOBER 174. Aranke also received the Art Journal Award 2021 at the CAA 2021 Convocation.

Associate Professor, Adj. Caroline Bellios and Assistant Professor Abigail Glaum-Lathbury contributed to the book Fashion, Dress, and Post-Postmodernism (Bloomsbury).

Professor, Adj. Eileen Favorite published an op-ed in the Chicago Tribune titled “The police jumped to protect my white teen daughter and her friends. If only Black girls received the same care.”

Associate Professor Maria Gaspar and Assistant Professor Salvador Jiménez-Flores received the prestigious United States Artists Fellowship, which grants each of the 60 artists selected $50,000 unrestricted awards. 

Sculpture Milwaukee, an annual outdoor exhibition of public sculpture in the city's downtown, has announced that its 2021 exhibition will be co-curated by Professor Michelle Grabner and Theaster Gates (HON 2014).

Lecturer Dylan Palmer was named an awardee for the 2021 Momentum | Intersection Glass Program.

Assistant Professor, Adj. Sonja Thomsen’s exhibition Marginal Notes will be at The Suburban through March 31.
