Student Sophie Lopez and alum Jasmine Veronica (BFA 2021) are recipients of the Creator Lab Photos Fund. The fund is co-sponsored by Google’s Creator Lab and the Aperture Foundation in order to provide creatives with a “dedicated financial commitment” in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. “[The artists’] work covers an exciting range, from visionary portraiture and interventions into personal archives, to incisive critiques of queer, Latinx, and Black experience in the US. We all communicate with images today—and we encourage all photographers to continue their practice, ensuring a more rigorous, more expansive range of expressions in the field,” shared Aperture Creative Director Lesley A. Martin. Recipients were awarded $5,000 each.
