Associate Professor Sarah Ross Awarded A.R.T. Grant
Associate Professor Sarah Ross, founder and director of Walls Turned Sideways, has been awarded an A.R.T. (Art for Radical Transformation) grant from the Field Foundation, in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation. The Chicago-based gallery is known for its sustained engagement with artists impacted by incarceration and its commitment to abolitionist and justice-centered practices. Ross teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where her pedagogy aligns closely with her curatorial work and advocacy. The grant recognizes Walls Turned Sideways’ role in advancing socially engaged art practices and supporting artists whose work addresses systems of confinement, equity, and reform.
