Associate Professor LaToya Ruby Frazier recently won the 2022 Carnegie Prize for her participation in the 58th edition of Carnegie International. Frazier received the Carnegie Prize in recognition of her exhibition More Than Conquerors: A Monument for Community Health Workers of Baltimore, Maryland, which “[highlights] the efforts of Baltimore health workers and community leaders during the ongoing pandemic.” This new series is the latest project in Frazier’s multidisciplinary practice, which centers social justice and cultural change. As the top Carnegie Prize winner, Frazier received a medal designed by Tiffany & Co. and was officially honored in a gala celebrating the show’s opening.

“LaToya Ruby Frazier’s urgent and resonant monument to the community healthcare workers during a global pandemic is an especially powerful contribution to the history of the Carnegie Internationals,” Carnegie Museum Director Eric Crosby said in a statement.
