April 2026: Faculty and Staff Accomplishments
Professor, Adj. Giovanni Aloi toured to promote his book Botanical Revolutions: How Plants Changed the Course of Art, giving talks and presentations at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation in Virginia and the District Architecture Center in Washington D.C. He gave the presentation “Gardening as Art” at Dumbarton Oaks Museum and delivered the virtual talk “Rearranging the Universe | The Enduring Spell of Curiosity Cabinets,” and presented “Reclaiming Creativity in the Age of Infinite Content” as part of the College Art Association of America conference in Chicago. He contributed to the book Forest Encounters, published an article about the Victoria and Albert Museum in the Italian Financial Times, and reviewed Cole Swanson's exhibition currently on view at the Art Gallery of Peterborough.
Professor, Adj. Judith Geichman’s solo show is on view at The Suburban in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, through May 9. The Suburban is a gallery space co-run by Crown Family Professor in Painting and Drawing Michelle Grabner.
Assistant Professor, Adj. Marie Jiang received an Honorable Mention (Professional Level) for her oil painting Relationship at the National Arts Program Exhibition held at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Relationship explores emotional resonance through layered color, atmosphere, and abstraction.
Professor William J. O’Brien’s essay “A Power Outage Made Us Possible” appeared in the “Modern Love” column in the New York Times.
Mohn Family Professor of Contemporary Art History David Raskin and Alsdorf Professor of South and Southeast Asian Art Nora Annesley Taylor published brief essays in Waking up the Interiority: Viraj Mithani, the first career survey catalogue of alum Viraj Mithani (BFA 2015).
