Lauren Quin (BFA 2015) opened her studio to Cultured Mag and detailed how her painting practice has developed since finishing her studies at Yale University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her works have garnered attention from many institutions, including the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami and the X Museum in Beijing, for their “frenetic energy” reminiscent of “the radiant electricity of a neon sign.” After launching two solo shows last summer, Vocal Fry and Bat’s Belly, Quin continues to experiment in her studio. “Being here in a disciplined, durational way is really useful,” Quin told Cultured Mag. For Quin, time spent in her studio means time dedicated to refinement and growth.
