The 2026 SAIC Master of Arts in Art Education (MAAE) research symposium showcases seven original thesis projects, developed by a cohort of explorers, organizers, and activists. For the past two years, these students have refined their research and learning skills, contributing new and diverse voices to the robust field of art education. Each of their projects builds upon the unique interests, experiences, and expertise of its creator. This cohort’s collected research powerfully illustrates the diverse paths taken by SAIC Art Education students. Through meaningful reflection, a passion for learning, and dedicated scholarship, this work demonstrates how research can lead to significant positive change in the world. For as long as humans have experienced the world, artists have observed and responded, leaving their mark. From cave walls and temples to alleyways and art museums, the work we create reveals not only what we see, but also the way we perceive it. So, with this research we continue that act. We give back to the communities we are proud to come from. Give shape to the ideas we have learned to run with. And contribute to the construction of a world we can all find meaning in.
