At the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, we are committed to helping international students navigate your financial aid options. This page provides an overview of the types of financial aid available, including scholarships, student employment opportunities, and additional resources.
Note on US Government Funding: It is important to note that US government funding is not available for foreign nationals studying in the US, and most public and private grants and loans are restricted to US citizens or permanent residents. However, merit scholarships are available at admission, and resources for international funding can be found below.
Merit Scholarships
As an international student—whether undergraduate or graduate—you may be eligible for merit-based scholarships awarded during the admission process. Learn more about merit-based scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.
Outside Scholarships

On-Campus Employment

Alternative & Private Loans
As an international student, you may consider alternative or private loans if you can secure a co-signer who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Helpful information on navigating the alternative/private loan process can be found at finaid.org or edupass.org.
