Sarah Skaggs, Lead Faculty

Sarah Skaggs is a Chicago-based creative producer and has helped artists bring to life hundreds of events, exhibitions, performances, and videos all over the world. Working with artists, musicians, and organizations like Every house has a door, Luftwerk, Joanna Furnans and more, she specializes in process-driven, ethical practices that reimagine the systems that present cultural production. Her curatorial work includes serving as assistant curator and registrar for the 2019 Goat Island Archive exhibition at the Chicago Cultural Center and the first guest curator for the performance art gallery Defibrillator. She completed her MA in Arts Administration and Policy at SAIC in 2016.

Efrén Candelaria, Faculty

Efrén Candelaria is a Puerto Rico native with over 15 years of experience in Art Handling and Fine Art services and transport. In 2012, he shifted his studio-based practice to a collaborative community-based approach using food as an instrument for cultural and socio-economic development for the Latino community in Chicago. He Co-Founded the interdisciplinary atelier Sobremesa Chicago, based in the Pilsen neighborhood. Candelaria has a studio practice that has taken him to present his work internationally and throughout the US. Efren currently has a painting studio at MANA CONTEMPORARY and works as Assistant Director for Facilities Services for SAIC.
