The School’s Diversity Mission Statement:
The School’s primary purpose is to cultivate a campus designed to encourage the discovery and development of significant ideas and images. The school is therefore committed to assembling a diverse community of faculty, students, and staff, and to nurturing and creating an environment in which those different perspectives and backgrounds can be heard, valued, and utilized
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of Academic Affairs (DEIAA):
SAIC is committed to assembling a diverse community of faculty, students, and staff and to nurturing and creating an environment in which different perspectives and backgrounds can be heard, valued, and utilized. In this spirit, the overall focus of the office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Academic Affairs is to infuse our work into the academics of the School. This strategy includes working closely with individuals and departments who seek to foster and implement programs that build on creating spaces where we can learn and develop as a community of artists and designers.
Throughout each semester, the office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of Academic Affairs offers a series of programs and workshops to scaffold on-going learning and promote an inclusive environment. In addition, members of the DEIAA team work closely with individuals - students, faculty and staff - when concerns arise or support is needed. Finally, ongoing and very deliberate collaborations with offices and departments across the School are developed to assist in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals.
