Parent and Family Giving
Welcome from the Parent and Family Council Co-Chairs
As co-chairs of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) Parent and Family Council, we welcome you and your family to the SAIC community. We’ve experienced firsthand the artistic and personal growth that transforms the students who attend this extraordinary School, and we are delighted that your child has chosen SAIC as the place to pursue their artistic and academic goals. SAIC is a special place, made up of amazing faculty and staff, a rigorous curriculum, and robust resources for our students and their creative futures. All parents have the opportunity to invest in the success of SAIC students as donors to the School. Please read on to learn about the many ways you can provide meaningful support that will impact the SAIC student experience.

“I appreciate that the School includes students from all backgrounds; it is what makes it such a great place to learn. But, it breaks my heart to see so many kids who are hurting now because of this pandemic. I appreciate the opportunity to help.”
Paul Albergo, P’2022
“My wife Sally and I give because of the talented faculty, the interdisciplinary approach, and the artistic and academic excellence that prepared our daughter for an amazing career in the arts.”
Shawn Smith, P’2020
“My daughter has very much enjoyed her study at SAIC and keeps improving over the past few years. SAIC does hard work and takes good care of students. My daughter has benefited a lot from it. As parents, we want to extend our gratitude to SAIC and give our support from the bottom of our heart.”
Cuiyue Tang, P’2021
“Our son would not be the artist he is today without SAIC’s rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum, and to help ensure other international students have the same opportunities, my husband and I are making a gift to the School.”
Nandita Swarup, P’2019
“As two working parents, value and affordability were important considerations to us in the college decision process. Sending our daughter to SAIC is an investment in her education and her future, and we were fortunate that she received a Merit Scholarship to offset some of the costs. Through its faculty, facilities, and scholarship opportunities, it is apparent to us that SAIC provides a significant value to the student experience. Making a gift to the School is our way of supporting SAIC’s mission to offer a world-class art and design education.”
Beth Hotchko and Sandy Potter, P’2022
Parent and Family Giving

Giving provides parents and family members an opportunity to make a direct impact on student life. As a donor, you are investing in the future of the School and providing foundational support for emerging artists. If you are a parent, guardian, or family member feeling inspired to further your impact, we welcome you to explore ways to engage in SAIC’s culture of generosity.
