Faculty Members Sofya Karash and Daniel McManus Design a New Visual Identity for Iconic Chicago Buildings
The Narrative, a firm founded by Assistant Professor, Adj. Sofya Karash and Lecturer Daniel McManus, designed the new visual identity for Chicago's iconic 900 910 Lake Shore buildings. The buildings were designed by Mies Van der Rohe in 1955 and this the first rebrand the buildings have had since the late 1970s. Karash and McManus took an intensive, research-based approach to the project. The final logo directly references the “golden ratio” of the black windows—perhaps the most visually iconic aspect of the buildings.
