Futuring is understanding ways we can use our creative skills to debate and discuss what might happen next, whether that future is tomorrow or 50 years from now. As creative people, we all think about the future. How can we harness that to propose new ways to speculate on how things might be? This class examines futuring as a creative and speculative tool and will teach ways of futuring applicable to students in art, design, fashion, film and other creative genres. Students will be introduced to a wide range of cutting edge, avant-garde and traditional research methods and forecasting techniques that can be applied to creative projects, from the crafting or things, to the crafting of ideas.
