Studio Tour: Mac Pierce

From a sunny lake-view studio on Michigan Avenue, graduate student Mac Pierce is building a cannon. The 3D-printed “weapon” will be on display as part of Graduate Exhibition One—and it has already received an Artforum shout-out as a “must-see” piece of art.

Pierce’s art explores American gun culture, surveillance, privacy, and how citizens navigate a world increasingly complicated by evolving technologies. He invited us into his studio for a tour—including a look at what he’s working on now.
