Scheherazade Tillet’s Debut Photo Essay Published by The Guardian
School of the Art Institute alum Scheherazade Tillet’s (MA 2005) photo essay published by The Guardian follows the artist’s trip to Breonna Taylor’s home in Kentucky.
Tillet is an artist, curator, and activist based in Chicago. The photo essay is an extension of Tillet’s latest project, The Black Girlhood Altar, which pays homage to Black girls and Black women who were murdered or have gone missing in the United States. ‘Life Has Not Stopped For Grief’ documents Tillet’s journey to Louisville, Kentucky, the site of Taylor’s apartment, and the process of grieving and healing for Taylor’s sister and mother. The photographs include a collection of art dedicated to Taylor.
