CHICAGO—The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), a global leader in art and design education, continues its yearly events with an exciting lineup for spring 2023. Celebrating the talented SAIC students completing their undergraduate and graduate degrees, these events showcase their innovative work. Graduate Exhibition One 
March 1—8
Reception: Saturday, March 4, 12:00–5:00 p.m.

Graduate Exhibition One is the first of two graduate exhibitions this spring and presents new and innovative work by 67 of SAIC’s master of fine arts candidates.

IMPACT Performance Festival
March 3—5
SAIC Galleries, 33 E. Washington St.
The IMPACT Performance Festival showcases the culminating projects of master of fine arts, bachelor of fine arts, and post-baccalaureate certificate students who will activate multiple spaces within the gallery to present live performances.

ArtBash

First year students from the Department of Contemporary Practices exhibit new interdisciplinary art and design works. Students have the opportunity to participate through site specific proposals, an open call for work, and by faculty selection.

Spring Undergraduate Exhibition
April 7—15

The Spring Undergraduate Exhibition showcases the culminating work of more than 200 graduating seniors. This exhibition features the ambitious and innovative interdisciplinary work of our students, the next generation of artists, scholars, and citizens. It is a living example of the crossing of disciplines and challenging assumptions that SAIC encourages in each student.

The Film, Video, New Media, Animation, and Sound Festival features the work of graduate and undergraduate students from the class of 2023.

Graduate Exhibition Two
May 12—21

The second of two graduate exhibitions this spring presents new and ambitious work by more than 100 master of fine arts, master of design, master of architecture, and master of architecture in interior architecture candidates.

MFA in Writing Graduate Reading
May 16, 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Reception: 4:30 p.m.

Graduating students from the Master of Fine Arts in Writing program read selections from their work. Join for a surprising evening including, but not limited to, fiction, nonfiction, and text off the page. Discover what writing becomes when students adapt the practices of their studio-artist peers.

BFA in Writing Thesis Reading
May 20, 5:00–8:00 p.m.
LeRoy neiman Center, 37 S. Wabash Ave.
Students graduating from the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing program will read, perform, and otherwise represent their work in traditional as well as hybrid and experimental forms, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, scripts, electronic media, and performance.
