SAIC Community Members Featured in Design Museum’s New Climate Crisis Exhibition

The Design Museum Chicago’s newest exhibition, At the Precipice: Responses to the Climate Crisis, exhibits work utilizing a variety of mediums to create dialogue about the impending climate crisis and how art can play a role in creating a more sustainable future. The exhibition features School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) alums Selva Aparicio (BFA 2012), Luftwerk (Petra Bachmaier (BFA 1999) and Sean Gallero (BFA 1998)), Chris Pappan (SAIC 1994), and Redemptive Plastics (Cody Norman (BFA 2016) and Tom Burtonwood (associate professor of Contemporary Practices)).

At the Precipice showcases work using a variety of art and design methodologies to create objects that interpret this impending crisis and attempt to find hope in these daunting times. There are a variety of programs that accompany the exhibition including artist talks, film screenings, and even community-led talk with the Delta Institute. This exhibition is open until October 30 and is free and open to the public.
