Newcity Names Four Alums
as 2021 Breakout Artists

For the 17th year, Newcity has released its annual list of Breakout Artists. This year, four out of nine of the artists featured are School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) alums: Hyun Jung Jun (BFA 2014), Li-Ming Hu (MFA 2019), Nereida Patricia (BFA 2020), and Unyimeabasi Udoh (MFA 2019). Named “Chicago’s Next Generation of Image Makers,” Newcity celebrates how these artists expand our idea of what art is and create opportunities for connection and inclusion.
