Chicago Tribune Highlights Hana Bleue Chaussette’s Public Exhibition
School of the Art Institute of Chicago alum Hana Bleue Chaussette (BFA 1986) takes inspiration from hometown heroes in her latest public exhibition, Unsung Heroes of Uptown: Art of People ON the Streets IN the Streets. Taking place throughout Downtown and Uptown, Chaussette’s artwork is sprawled throughout bus stops that are frequented by locals, tourists, and the individuals she depicts.
Chaussettes approach to this exhibition is highlighted in the Chicago Tribune which emphasizes how each acrylic painting contains direct references to the interviews she conducted as research. Two of the portraits on view depict Grammy award winner Terry Abrahamson and Founder of the Black Ensemble Theater Jackie Taylor. To view a detailed map of the locations of the bus stops and audio related to each portrait please visit her website. The exhibition is on view until August 6.
