TOP 3 OF 220 FINE ARTS GRADUATE PROGRAMS—U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT

SAIC provides students an extraordinary range and diversity of curricular offerings through studio and academic departments. Students are encouraged to work as multidisciplinary arts practitioners. This cross-curricular exploration allows students to deeply examine their orientation, which often provides a quintessential experience that shifts thinking and takes a student's art making and/or scholarship into new levels of creativity.

SAIC's approach gives students the maximum advantage in their future work as artists and cultural workers and a greater ability to collaborate and communicate with others-an invaluable skill.

SAIC prepares the graduate student for entry into institutions, organizations, and workplaces through the integration of theory and practice and by stressing the importance of access and agency within the world at large. This results in graduates who are engaged with life and whose practice entails involvement with communities and other notions of audience. The potential opportunities for artists in society are growing and increasingly recognized and valued.

The excellence of SAIC's graduate degree programs resides in its faculty of practicing artists and scholars, and their ability to transmit their areas of expertise. Faculty provide graduate students with a myriad approaches to artmaking and scholarship and, through first-hand knowledge, guide students through important questions that impact artistic and scholarly growth.

It is exciting to contemplate the serious concentrated time graduate school affords. It is a chance for students to further develop a sense of purpose in their work and in their lives, a time when professional friendships and mentor relationships are formed–relationships that often continue to influence a person's development for decades to come.
