First-Time Freshmen: Test Scores
If you will graduate from high school in the year in which you are applying for admission, you must submit standardized test scores to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).
If you are a US resident or English is your first language, you are required to submit scores from either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT). You may select to have your scores sent to SAIC when you are taking either test or send us scores via an official transcript.
Minimum scores required by SAIC:
|SAT [Administered March 2016 and later]: Evidence-Based Reading and
|SAT [Administered Prior to March 2016]: Critical Reading Component||500|
*In March 2016 the College Board began offering a redesigned SAT. SAIC will accept
scores from both the current SAT and the redesigned SAT.
Applicants who score below the minimum SAT or ACT requirements may not be offered admission to SAIC.
To be exempt from admissions test score requirements, you must have taken a minimum of 12 liberal arts (general education) credits, including at least 6 credits of college-level essay writing or English, receiving grades of "C" or greater.
If you graduated from high school two or more years ago, you do not have to submit SAT or ACT scores, but are subject to an academic review based upon your college transcript.
