Popular SAIC Student Exhibition Travels from Milan to New York City

Chicago, IL—Emerging designers from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) present new work at The Future Perfect Pop-Up Shop in NoHo May 19–June 8 during New York's International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). Their project, whatnot, premiered at Milan's foremost independent design showroom, Spazio Rossana Orlandi, for the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (International Furniture Fair) in April.

Sony Electronics 3D Imaging Equipment Coming to SAIC Campus

CHICAGO—Chicago, IL—A new industry partnership between the Sony Digital Media Academy (SDMA) and the Earl and Brenda Shapiro Center for Research and Collaboration at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will facilitate innovative and expressive applications of digital media technologies next fall on the largest school-museum campus in the United States. Millennium Park Premieres New Soundscape Artwork by SAIC Visiting Professor

Chicago, IL—World-famous Millennium Park in downtown Chicago is about to receive another exciting new public art installation courtesy of an internationally renowned artist affiliated with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Soaring Echoes, by SAIC's Bill and Stephanie Sick Visiting Professor Bill Fontana, will make its public debut in Millennium Park during SAIC Commencement, held in the park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Sunday, May 13.

SAIC President Delivers Closing Keynote at CIC Global University Summit

Chicago, IL—Dr. Walter E. Massey, President of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), delivered the closing keynote address Monday, May 1 at the CIC Global University Summit held at the University Club of Chicago's Cathedral Hall, located adjacent to the SAIC campus in the heart of downtown Chicago. Massey, a prominent physicist who has served as Director of the Argonne National Laboratory and the National Science Foundation alongside his lengthy career in higher education, called his address "The Art of Innovation."

Trustees Extend Leadership of SAIC President Walter Massey

Chicago, IL—Cary McMillan, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), announced today the Board of Trustees of the Art Institute of Chicago voted unanimously on April 11 to extend through the end of the 2015–16 academic year the appointment of Walter E. Massey, Ph.D. as SAIC President. The news comes as SAIC celebrates several milestones enhancing its position of international leadership and strength among independent colleges of art and design.
