Beginning October 15, Ruba Katrib (BA 2004) will leave her post at SculptureCenter to take over as curator at MoMA PS1. "As a longtime admirer of Ruba's Work, I am thrilled that she is joining the museum," chief curator Peter Eleey told Artforum.

Alumni in Running for Gary Public Art Contest

Downtown Gary will be getting new public art thanks to its inaugural public art competition. Sponsored by the Legacy Foundation, the contest is offering awards ranging from $25,000 to $3,000, and SAIC alumni are included in the list of 15 finalists. Damon Reed (BFA 1999) and Lauren Pacheco (MA 2015) are both in the running for the competition's top prize, $25,000.

KT Hawbaker (MA 2017), an editing assistant at the Chicago Tribune and recent New Arts Journalism graduate, reviewed Brotha: Rehumanizing the Dehumanized. Currently on view at The Overlook, the show assembles six artists' work that examines how ideas of Black masculinity are constructed.
