Career and Professional Experience (CAPX)
It's never too early, or too late, to start a conversation about your creative life.
Career and Professional Experience (CAPX) helps students and alums gain the self-knowledge, experience, skills, and confidence needed to develop unique, creatively satisfying career paths.
CAPX provides one-on-one advising, group workshops, and numerous professional networking opportunities. CAPX Advisors work with students and alums to:
Find SAIC Internships
Strategize job searches
Prepare résumés and portfolios
Edit SAIC Compass profiles
Build interviewing skills
Research grants and residencies
Apply to graduate schools
CAPX places great value on ensuring that students spend time outside of the classroom gaining experience that propels creative growth. Taking part in an SAIC Internship is also a great way to fulfill the six-credit off-campus study requirement.
CAPX services are available to all degree-seeking SAIC students and alums. Make an Appointment to meet with a CAPX Advisor: Monday —Friday, 8:30–4:30 p.m.
Check out CAPX Resources and Guides for tutorials on writing artist's statements and documenting work, links to outside resources, as well as advice on writing résumés, cover letters, and applying for jobs.
Your North Star for internships, jobs, employers, CAPX events, and more.
Two options: Prof Prac 3900 Internship as Professional Experience Class and Traditional Internship. Both allow you to earn course credit while gaining professional experience.
