Adult Programs: Certificate Programs
Adult Continuing Education noncredit certificates at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago offer unique learning opportunities for adult students interested in pursuing an education in contemporary art and design. Programs have been designed to meet the needs of today’s working adults interested in developing an art and design practice, exploring new areas of study, or preparing for a variety of educational pursuits.
Requirements vary by program. Most can be completed in one year at a rate of two courses per semester. Taking more than two courses per semester is not recommended.
Courses are conveniently offered evenings and weekends during our ten-week fall and spring semesters, and one-week, five-week, and ten-week summer sessions.
Classes are held in SAIC’s studios and labs where students have access to a wide variety of facilities and resources.
All Adult Continuing Education courses are eligible electives for all certificate programs. Completion of all certificates requires a final portfolio review by a Continuing Studies instructor.
Note: Required courses may not be offered every semester (fall, spring, summer). Please contact Continuing Studies for suggestions on organizing your course sequence.
