Six SAIC Community Members Selected for the 2024 Whitney Biennial
The 81st installment of the Whitney Biennial features six School of the Art Institute of Chicago alums and community members. ektor garcia (BFA 2014), Christopher Harris (MFA 2000), B. Ingrid Olson (BFA 2010), Edward Owens (SAIC 1966-67), and Isaac Julien (HON 2019) join 65 other artists and collectives in the 2024 Whitney Biennial.
Titled Even Better Than The Real Thing, the Biennial focuses on ideas of “the real” that permeate contemporary life and artistic practice. From artificial intelligence to identity discourse, the chosen artists explore fluid states of form, land, and embodiment.
The Biennial was co-curated by alum Meg Onli (BFA 2008) who serves as Whitney’s curator-at-large. It is scheduled to open on March 20.
School of the Art Institute of Chicago alum Katie Chung (BFA 2014) was featured on WTTW in anticipation of her mural for the 360 Chicago Observation Deck.
