Six SAIC Alums Selected as Newcity’s 2024 Breakout Artists
Newcity’s Breakout Artists issue is an annual selection of emerging Chicago artists believed to be the future of the city’s art scene. The 21st edition features six SAIC alums and lecturers: Luke Agada (MFA 2023), Bryana Bibbs (BFA 2014), Maria Burundarena (MFA 2022), Leasho Johnson (MFA 2020), Ava Wanbli (MFA 2019), and Nikko Washington (MFA 2016).
In addition to features in Newcity’s print edition, the artists will exhibit at Chicago Artists Coalition in April. The opening reception is scheduled for April 10.
School of the Art Institute of Chicago alum Katie Chung (BFA 2014) was featured on WTTW in anticipation of her mural for the 360 Chicago Observation Deck.
