SAIC Faculty Members Awarded Gold Medal by American Craft Council

Stephanie and Bill Sick Professor of Fashion, Body and Garment Nick Cave and Professor Emeritus in Fiber and Material Studies Anne Wilson were named the 2024 Gold Medalists for Consummate Craftsmanship by the American Craft Council (ACC). This is a lifetime achievement award and is the highest honor given by the ACC to outstanding leaders in American craft. The Gold Medal is awarded every two years to members of the ACC’s College of Fellows, an exceptional group of craft artists throughout the United States.

Wilson became a fellow in 2000, and Cave joined in 2016. Wilson creates sculpture, material drawings, and performances that explore themes of time, loss, and private and social rituals. Cave works across a variety of mediums including sculpture, installation, video, sound and performance to create works of art that engage with social justice issues to instigate change and promote collective healing.
