What time are the classes?
Classes meet Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with an hour lunch break each day.
Are there any housing options provided as part of the Early College Program Summer Institute in Mumbai?
We currently do not offer housing arrangements as part of the program. Students must arrange their own accommodations.
What is expected of me in terms of coursework?
Each class is different and will have its own requirements. However, all students should expect to get homework during the week and on the weekends. The Early College Program Summer Institute in Mumbai is an advanced program granting college credit upon successful completion, with the exception of students who are in 10th grade and are taking the program for audit. Students are expected to complete assignments outside of class and therefore should plan to spend approximately two hours each evening in the studios. Students are here first and foremost for an intensive academic experience in the visual arts.
What is the attendance policy for the program?
Attendance is mandatory. Students taking the course for credit can miss no more than two classes. The instructor and TA should be notified of any planned or foreseen absences.
What should I do if I have to miss a day of class?
Students should talk to their instructor about how to make up the material missed in class.
Can ECPSI in Mumbai courses be audited/taken for non-credit?
Students who are 15 or older must take the Early College Program Summer Institute in Mumbai courses for credit only and cannot take the courses for audit. Students who are 14 will take the classes for audit.
How much work can I expect to produce during an ECPSI in Mumbai course?
As with homework, each class is different and will yield its own unique product. However, students should expect to produce several initial projects/assignments in addition to a final project that is self-driven.
What about supplies for the course?
We will provide you with the supplies needed for the course, however students are encouraged to bring a notebook and laptop if they have one. Students will find out more about supplies on the first day of class.
How are ECPSI in Mumbai students supervised?
There will be 2 full-time Teaching Assistants who will be supervising students throughout the day. Students will not be allowed to leave the building unless accompanied by a TA. In addition to that, Dhirubhai Ambani International School has a secure campus that is monitored by security and staff.
What happens if I get sick?
The TA should be notified immediately. There will be a nurse on hand at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School.
How does my work get home?
Students are responsible for getting their work home. We are unable to store, pack, or ship work for students. Instructors and TAs will help students prep to pack up work at the end of the session. Work that cannot be transported home can be photographed and/or videoed.
Is there a final exhibition? When is it?
Yes! Students will be exhibiting their work at Project 88 gallery (N A Sawant Marg | Colaba Mumbai 400 005 | India) on Saturday, June 29th. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.
