Bio
Ramin Jabbarli is a sociologist and social activist. He came to academia in the US as an Azerbaijani political refugee from Iran. He had been involved in the Azerbaijanis' movement against ethnic discrimination and racism in Iran. After coming to the United States, he has received his BA with honors and MA in Sociology from the University of Washington. Currently, he is a PH.D. student at the University of Washington. His areas of interest include social movements, identity, ethnic relations, and collective action. His research mainly focuses on ethnic conflict, identity, and social movements in autocratic regimes with an emphasis on Iran and the Middle East region. He has written various publications on ethnic minorities and their ethnic rights movements in Iran.
