Bio
Cynthia Silva is a documentary photographer and educator based in Chicago. She received her BA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago where she created work that focused on capturing the duality of growing up Mexican-American and what that meant for her and her peers. Her project documenting Mexican-American culture, “Mexico Americano”, was shown at Columbia’s “The American's Now” exhibition and at the Manifest Urban Arts Festival.
Her current work focuses on creating travel content to pique people’s interest in learning more about Mexican culture and travel. Through photos and videos, she presents the Mexico she knows and loves beyond what is often portrayed through beach resorts and other stereotypes.
