The 54th Chicago International Film Festival opened yesterday with several SAIC community members on the roster. Joel Benjamin, adjunct assistant professor in the Film, Video, New Media, and Animation (FVNMA) department presents his animated short Relax, It's Probably Just a Parasite on Thursday, October 18. Apichatpong Weerasethakul's (MFA 1998, HON 2011) Blue, FVNMA Assistant Professor Melika Bass' (MFA 2007) Creature Companion, and Deborah Stratman's (BFA 1990) Optimism are all part of the Shorts Program 8: Meditation (Experimental) on Monday, October 15. The Shorts Program 8: Meditation was also included in the Chicago Sun-Times list of "10 to see at Chicago film festival."
