Weija Ma (MFA 2015) won the Gold Plaque Animated award at the 51st Chicago International Film Festival for her film, Same River Twice. Ma, a recent graduate from SAIC’s Film, Video, New Media, and Animation program, created “a vibrant animated short that infuses nostalgia with color and soul." The film tells the story of a young girl bringing her father's childhood memories to life. Past award winners of the competition have gone on to win Oscars and Golden Globes.
