Now Is the Time: Advancing North Lawndale Together, a project planned for North Lawndale has been selected as a finalist for the Pritzker Traubert Foundation’s $10 million Chicago Prize, reports Block Club Chicago. One of the projects part of the proposal, Under the Grid is led by SAIC faculty Haman Cross in collaboration with the School and the Trust for Public Land. The project would incorporate public art into 15 blocks underneath the Pink Line that runs through Lawndale between the Pulaski and Kedzie stations.

According to Cross, Under the Grid would activate vacant properties and turn them into exhibits, installations, and pop-ups that are responsive to the interests and needs of the surrounding community. The recipient of the prize will be announced this spring or summer.
